1. Merch illustrations
Hajk
Hiking  experience company
Winter project, 2024

This project is a collaboration with a design studio and the customer – I was the illustrator assigned. Hajk needed some illustrated merch including coasters and t-shirts. What I did was taking their logo (a bear) and making him act in different situations to bring the brand to life.

2. Play illustrations
Personal
Procreate, 2024-

I enjoy drawing on my iPad and sometimes the result is rather cute – like this little illustration of a bundle of fish. I often play around with bold color combinations, strokes and textures.

3. Tattoo illustrations
Personal project
Me, myself & a piece of paper
2024

These illustrations are made as sketches by hand first – then transferred to Adobe Illustrator to polish them. I used the same method as in my exam project, where I made some old school tattoo style illustrations. I really enjoy the process of making illustrations in this particular style.

4. Christmas calendar
Meyers
Food culture company
2023

Meyers is releasing a Christmas calendar in collaboration with Mødrehjælpen every year. The profits from the sale of the calendar goes to Mødrehjælpen's Christmas help, which supports vulnerable families during the holiday season. In 2023 I was lucky enough to get to work with Meyers to make the calendar.

5. Tee illustration
Backyard Studio
Design company
2024

In collaboration with my partner and his design studio we created some merch to gain traction – and encourage people to spend time in nature. I drew the illustration for the t-shirts.

6. Brand illustrations
SparEnergi
The Danish Energy Agency
2022

While working at 1508, I was in charge of the illustration library for SparEnergi. They needed a extensive library, that included flexible illustrations to be used in different situations across their platforms.

7. Brand illustrations
MiniHospitalet,
Kids toys related to medicine

2019

In connection to developing their new visual identity we saw an opportunity to make the brand come more to life by introducing some playful illustrations. Both to relate more to the kids, but also make the subject of disease less heavy.

My name is Mikala, and I run a small design and illustration studio, and I’m also trying to run away from the corporate world and the infamous rat race.

In a fast-paced world of quick-fixes and easy copies I care about quality processes and depth. I believe that good work starts with the original idea and ends with craftmanship. It’s these two pillars I return to in every project – my light houses.

Sometimes I do some physical art that can be seen here ↗︎
